Collections Specialist

The Cashier Buiness Office is currently accepting applications for the position of Collections Specialist.
The collections specialist will be responsible for the collection of past due student accounts to reduce outstanding student accounts receivables.
Ensure all activities and loan counseling’s are in place so students understand their responsibility in repaying their student loans., Perkins Loans, and Nursing Loans, and that they are administered in compliance with regulatory and University policies.
Review Accounts Receivable reports to determine initiation of collection and investigative actions.
Arrange payment plans and payoff amounts with students.
Contact borrowers during their grace period to remind them of the importance of the repayment obligation and of the consequences of default. Update contact information.
Track borrowers in delinquency. Offer information about repayment options, including the availability of deferments and forbearances.
Assign delinquencies to collection agencies.
Process payments from/to servicer(s) and collection agencies.
Perform statistical analysis for internal and external reporting.
Maintain loan files.
Serve as liaison between Financial aid Offices, Registrar, Finance, and other university departments, as well as outside agencies,
such as student loan lenders, servicers, guaranty agencies, and the Department of Education.
Track the University’s cohort default rates.
Requirements:
Associate's degree in Business, Finance or related field, Bachelor's degree preferred.
Three to five years of experience as a Collections Specialist.
Candidates should have excellent communication skills and determination.
Previous phone experience is preferred as well as strong Microsoft Office skills are required.
The employment process will consist of the completion of an application, background check, reference checks, interviews, and skills testing in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
