Position Summary:
To assure that internal and external customers receive safe, wholesome, quality food items served in an attractive and timely fashion.
Conferring with the Dietitian regarding operating problems, patient food service and therapeutic diets.
Preparing and adjusting work and time schedules for food service employees and assisting when needed to maintain work schedules.
Assisting with menu planning and adjusting menus for modified diets according to patterns established by Dietitian/Diet Manual.
Makes and serves special orders as per patient or customer request to account for preference, including those necessary for age.
Supervising activities of work areas, including cafeteria, dining room, dishwashing room, patient area and special functions.
Maintains and improves standards of food preparation and service. Maintains Safety Standards
Responsible for department projects as delineated by the Director, Asst. Director or Chief Clinical Dietitian.
Plans cooking schedule in conjunction with Production Manager to ensure food will be ready at specified times. Confers with Dietitians regarding modified diet preparation and use of leftovers.
Prepares/supervises washing, trimming, cooking of food items for each meal.
Carves portions of meat, fish, poultry for individual servings and prepares/directs distribution of food to tray line/cafeteria line.
Cleans used equipment at end of service or as needed.
Maintains responsibility for next day's workload to ensure that supplies are pulled and stored properly.
Qualifications:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Serve - Safe Certified within 6 months of hire.
B. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Diet tech classes helpful, but not mandatory.
C. Experience: 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the food industry required. Healthcare experience strongly preferred. .
D. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Skills in math, language, and reasoning. Need to be congenial and cooperative with all nutrition services and nursing personnel. Good telephone etiquette, organizational skills, and have attention to detail. Must be able to perform several tasks simultaneously during peak times. Computer and Nutrition knowledge helpful. Food safety knowledge. Effective supervision and leadership of most positions in the kitchen.
Salary : Based on years of experience $10.07 - $14.45
