The Infection Control Manager RN ensures and coordinates tech process to reduce the risks of endemic and epidemic nosocomial infections in patients and health care workers. The Infection Control Manager will organize and facilitate tech delivery of nursing care to groups of patients in compliance with hospital and nursing service policies, procedures and standards of care/practice. Notifies physician and nursing staff of the need for precautions related to pertinent clinical findings. Reviews, analyzes, and applies existing regulations, standards, and/or guidelines of applicable professional organizations and governmental agencies. Observes compliance with Standard Precautions/Transmission based precautions through surveillance prevalence walks. Performs prevalence walks on scheduled basis on all nursing units and ancillary department with to evaluate compliance infection control and safety policies and procedures. Assists department managers in the development, review and revision of infection control policies and procedures, and presents to infection control pharmacy committee for approval. Analyzes surveillance data and investigates possible nosocomial infection. Has the authority to initiate appropriate precautions or actions necessary to ensure risk reduction in the transmission of infections. Prepares monthly infection control report and presents to the infection control/pharmacy committee.
Qualifications:
Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Nursing required and Masters preferred
Current Florida Nursing license required
Certified in Control/APIC Course, Surveillance Prevention & Control of Nosomical Infections or Equipment
Must have a minimum of one year of experience in Infection Control
BLS and ACLS Required
Good communication and verbal skills
Computer knowledge of Microsoft, Excel, Outlook and other statistical data programs
