The Security Compliance & Audit Support team serves as the liaison or primary point of contact for all IT-related audit functions, including client/business partner audits, state Department of Insurance (DOI) exams, RFP/due diligence reviews, SOX, SAS 70, internal audits, and any additional compliance requirement as needed. This team also maintains and executes procedures for maintaining and monitoring compliance with Assurant Security Policies & Standards, PCI, GLBA, HIPAA and any other IT-related security and privacy requirements.


This position will be responsible for:

* Assist in execution of procedures to monitor and maintain compliance with Assurant Security Policies & Standards, PCI, GLBA, HIPAA, etc.
* Facilitate Periodic Access Reviews (PARs)
* Complete compliance and/or security reporting requests
* Complete assessments/audits of security controls
* Maintain and update internal self-assessment tools
* Complete externally-requested self-assessments
* Document and report on findings (in accordance with escalation procedures)
* Assist in Assurant service provider risk assessment tools, processes and audits
* Maintain and distribute risk assessment questionnaires
* Evaluate risk assessment responses
* Lead on-site service provider audits (as necessary)
* Document and report on findings (in accordance with escalation procedures)
* Assist in audit finding and follow-up reporting
* Interact with Security, Risk & Advisory Services, Federal and State Regulatory Administration, Assurant Privacy Officer, IT Legal, and other relevant groups throughout Assurant
* Vendor oversight/assessment - collecting and reviewing security standards from third party vendors
* Interact with Assurant management and staff regarding risks and controls pertaining to security-related concepts and compliance and audit requirements
* Assist in researching, evaluating, designing, testing, recommending, and planning implementation of new or improved controls to keep Assurant current with industry standards and compliance requirements
* Working with other Assurant and industry groups on IT compliance-related issues and concerns
* Assist in internal and external audit activities, including vendor audits, client audits, state DOI exams, RFP/due diligence reviews, internal audits, SOX, SAS 70
* Work with auditors to facilitate on-site fieldwork
* Facilitate documentation gathering
* Report audit findings to appropriate parties
* Document and respond to any audit findings and recommendations
Required Experience:
* 1 - 3 or more years experience working with security, legal, audit, compliance, and/or related knowledge
* Understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements relating to privacy, data security and related topics for the financial services industry
* Advanced skills in MS Excel and/or MS Access required
* Ability to contribute as part of a virtual team
* Understanding of IT general controls and processes
* In-depth knowledge of IT systems, network components, and processes
* Ability to understand statutory and regulatory requirements relating to privacy, data security and related topics for the financial services industry
* Ability to analyze business and IT processes and effectively communicate the compliance risks to the company
* Ability to understand new laws and regulatory requirements and how they relate to security and compliance and present the overall risk to the company
* Experience leading projects and multi-tasking with diverse groups and locations
* Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Audit or related discipline; or equivalent experience
Helpful to have experience:

* Experience building and maintaining relationships and keeping informed regarding relevant changes throughout Assurant
* Working knowledge of Assurant business units an asset
