Linux Systems Administrator

Our client is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to complete a 6-12 month contract in South Florida. Please review the job description below and apply if you're a 100% match.

1) Thorough understanding of RedHat deployment build/configuration via Kickstart and Satellite, which includes:

a. Install via kickstart/Satellite

b. Modify kickstart to change package set, configuration files, partitioning, etc..

c. Manage packages via Satellite (create a channel and populate with packages, query errata by group/server, etc.)

d. Generate reports from Satellite and Satellite API

e. Install packages via yum, rpm,



2) Ability to create/modify shell scripts to:

a. Automate repetitive functions

b. Run commands remotely through a a non-interactive SSH session (i.e., automated configuration script)

c. Query remote servers for specific host configurations (e.g., verify that IPTables is enabled, verify a configuration file for compliance)

d. Document process



3) Thorough understanding of Storage management:

a. Experienced (not just "have experience") with configuring LVM, multipath

b. Clone/Modify volume groups

c. Perform basic filesystem maintenance and troubleshooting (recover from failed drive, etc..)

d. Understanding of SAN, NFS, CIFS, and other storage technologies

e. Ability to troubleshoot performance issues



4) User management and authentication, basic security understanding

a. Create users locally and configure server to AD authentication with appropriate restrictions

b. Modify sudoers file

c. Modify ACLs based on user/group

d. Create SELinux policy file and deploy based on AVC exceptions

e. Use chage, passwd, setfacl, etc.



5) Understanding of Enterprise processes and standards, including:

a. PCI considerations when configuring systems

b. Change processes

c. Problem ticketing (user Remedy or similar defect tracking, meet SLAs, customer feedback, etc.)

d. Reproducibility of configurations
