Manager, Accounting & Controls

The Manager, Accounting and Controls will manage global compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements through continuous interaction with domestic and international financial controllers, internal audit management and external auditors. 

Responsible for working under the direction of the Director of Financial Reporting to:

• Prepare annual risk assessment to determine in-scope processes, accounts and locations including consideration of COSO and PCAOB literature. 


• Perform periodic review of materiality based on actual and forecasted financial results to evaluate impact on risk assessment location and account scoping.  Communicate scoping changes to domestic and international controllers, as appropriate. 


• Assess control environment of acquired companies and ensure sufficient documentation of processes and controls in initial year of SOX compliance. 


• Expand effectiveness and efficiency of overall control environment by rationalizing key controls through continued identification, documentation and implementation of entity and segment level controls to address key risk areas.


• Perform annual walkthroughs of significant processes and sub-processes at domestic and international locations for external audit reliance and assess impacts of changes on overall control assessment.


• Prepare narrative and flowchart process documentation for international and domestic locations focusing on standardization of documentation and procedures across locations.


• Maintain documentation of global accounting policies and procedures including development and global communication of policies and procedures for new pronouncements, as required.


• Identify opportunities to develop, implement and standardize key application controls across operating locations.


• Maintain Company-wide key control matrix ensuring all applicable assertions are addressed for material account balances through defined entity level and application level key controls.


• Perform certain direct entity-level monitoring controls on a monthly basis.


• Evaluate accounting system functionality and make recommendations to further automate accounting processes and controls when practical.


• Liaise with internal audit to aggregate, evaluate and remediate identified control deficiencies.


• Coordinate with internal and external auditors to encourage leveraging of internal compliance activities.


• Review segregation of duties controls and annual testing activities.


• Manage the quarter-end and year-end 404 certification activities including detailed review of documentation supporting segment and location level certifications.


• Update senior management on new developments and changes in technical guidance related to internal controls.

• Big 4 Audit Manager or SOX Manager. Six to seven years accounting management experience and four years Sarbanes compliance experience.


• CPA and Master’s degree in accounting. In-depth knowledge of technical accounting (GAAP, SEC, COSO)


• 30% travel requirement (domestic and international)


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (including Visio)


• Knowledge of Hyperion a plus


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to interact with all levels of management/staff on sensitive issues
