Senior Financial Analyst

Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Controller, this position is responsible for preparing daily P&L estimates, reviewing and analyzing the Company’s results, assisting with the annual Plan process, assisting with the monthly close process, and managing special projects requested by the CFO.

Essential Functions:

• Compile data from various commercial and financial systems to generate a daily profit and loss statement for commercial and ocean freight activity.
  
• Assist controller with certain month end close functions, including:

  Reconciliation of daily P&L to general ledger P&L

  
  
• Calculation and verification of mark-to-market calculations
  
• Assist in the development of financial information systems, including SAP and TEAMS contract management system.  Assist in development, testing and implementation of Global Trade Management software (expected in 2011).
  
• Assist with the preparation of the monthly CEO letter emphasizing performance relative to historical results, business plan, forecasts and industry trends
  
• Assist in development of annual business plan, including commercial P&L and departmental budgets.
  
• Ability to analyze processes and identify and implement efficiencies
  
• Ability to manage both daily processes (daily P&L) alongside other projects
  
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  
• Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred, Portuguese also beneficial
  
• Team player a must
  
• Minimal travel required
  
• Occasional long hours at month end

Skill/Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Agriculture Economics.
  
• Commodity accounting/trading experience, such candidates would have relevant mark-to-market, futures positions, knowledge of transactions with the Chicago Mercantile Exch, Kansas Wheat, etc
  
• 4 - 7 years financial analysis experience preferred
  
• Proficiency in MS office software applications required
  
• Knowledge of HFM and SAP preferred
  
• Interest and capability to extract data efficiently from various financial systems (general ledger, broker reports, commercial systems, etc.)
  
• Must be fully bilingual English/Spanish
